Javamelts Caramel Apple Fritter Donuts

Calling all baking gurus:  You are sure to fall  in love with these Caramel Apple Fritter Donuts!  Please let us know if you try this delicious recipe and if you have an added twist or variation that you tried, we'd love for you to share that with us too!   

This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and vegan but of course you can modify it as you wish.  

Caramel Apple ingredients:

  • 3 Granny Smith apples diced
  • 2 tbsp plant butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla 
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Caramel Javamelts
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar 
  • 1/2 tsp Valencia lemon peel
  • 1 tsp tapioca flour 

-Add butter to a small sauce pan and melt on med-high heat

-Add remaining ingredients to pan and inner until apples have softened, about 10 min

-Spoon about 2 tbsp into greased donut pans

Dry ingredients:

  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1 tbsp psyllium husk powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Javamelts Caramel sugar

Wet ingredients:

  • 1 tsp vanilla 
  • 1/4 cup plant butter
  • 1 egg or vegan egg replacement 
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce 
  • 1/4 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1/4 tsp Ceylon cinnamon

 

-Whisk all dry ingredients together

-Add the wet ingredients and mix until combined

-Spoon batter into large ziplock or piping bag

-Fill donut pan with batter

-Bake 20 min 

-Allow donuts to cool about 10 min before flipping onto wire rack upside down and jiggling the donuts out gently

Caramel sauce:

  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup date syrup
  • 3 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 
  • 1/2 tsp salt 

-Melt coconut oil in microwave 

-Add rest of ingredients and whisk well

-Top donuts with caramel sauce
