Dessert never has to be complicated, especially when you have puff pastry dough in the freezer! We had company coming for dinner last night, a couple from my husband’s childhood, who are like family to us! In a pinch, these Caramel Apple Puff Pastry Tarts were made and they came out absolutely amazing not to mention the house smelled incredible!!
Ingredients:
2 sheets thawed puff pastry
2 medium sized apples
3 tbs butter
2 tbs Caramel Javamelts Flavored Sugar or 12 of our flavored sugar packets
1/4 tsp cinnamon
How to make:
Preheat oven 425 degrees
Peel and dice 2 medium sized apples into small pieces
Place 2 tbs butter in a small saucepan and add apples
Let simmer a bit
Add 2 tbs Caramel Javamelts Flavored Sugar
Let simmer
Add 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Stir well
If the mixture after the apples are soft seems a little watery add 1/4 tsp cornstarch to thicken it a bit
Once the apples are nice and soft set that aside
Cut your puff pastry into squares
Place the cooked apples into the center of each square and use another pasty square to use for the top
Leave approximately 1/4” around the sides without apples and using a fork seal the sides closed
Place the apple stuffed pastry square onto a baking sheet
Place in oven of 425 degrees and bake approximately 12-14 minutes until golden brown
Remove from oven
Melt 1 tbs butter
Mix 2 tbs Caramel Javamelts with 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Sprinkle heavily on top of the cooked pastry
Serve warm
Enjoy!
